先贴一段学校学生会发来的邮件，介绍芬兰Vappu节（夏至节，就在5月1日）的，非常详细，我就不用再写了，呵呵：

Vappu节的简介：

As you might know, Vappu is THE party in the Finnish Spring. Some people have started the celebrations already this weekend, one week before the real May Day, the others try not to notice this time for the year. So there are about 5 million different ways to enjoy these days. Here is some information about how you can join celebrate this event.

First of all, in Finland Vappu (May Day) has many meanings and celebrants. For students Vappu is an important party season, and also often the end of the lectures. For some people it is a reason to drink a lot. For most of us Vappu symbolizes the start of Spring/Summer, some sort of carnival time and a get together with friends and family. Originally the 1st of May has been a workers’ day, and so it it today too (an official holiday), but the political meaning of Vappu has a long time ago been drowned out by the merry hullabaloo. Though if you happen to be on the Hakaniemi market place, you might see some red color.

So Vappu is a unique Finnish carnival. Here is how you can celebrate it in style:

***Start, if you want, with some PreVappu parties. Almost all the student organizations or nations organize something. You will surely see people in overalls, the official student Vappu uniform, all over the town, going to or coming from a party.

***On the 30.4., that is Vappu eve, tens of thousands of people gather in Esplanadi to see, how the statue Manta gets her cap. This happens exactly at18.00 and on the same time all the other people put their cap on and start to celebrate e.g. by popping up sparking wine bottles. About 30 years ago Manta got her cap at midnight, but since therestarted to come too many people and the happening started to turn out resemble a mayhem, the time was set earlier, as it is now. To protect the fair lady, the student union activists, who each year wash the statue and give the cap, will so this act with the help of a huge crane.

***The evening and the night will continue in various parties. Normally mostly under aged teens stay outside, students go to different parties organized by (again) student organizations and nations. Some people take iteasier, and have a good dinner at home or in a restaurant.

***On the real May Day (1.5.), a thing NOT TO BE MISSED is to go to the Kaivopuisto park and participate to the Finland’s biggest annual picnic. No matter if the sun shines or not, the park will be full of people. The celebrations start already at 9.00 with some singing on the top of the hill.
After that people will go to their picnic places and spend their day simply relaxing. There are different constructions from a mere blanket to a fancy three course meal with silver cutlery and long tables with a with cloth, or sofas and tents and flags. Retuperän VPK band plays their dissonant music the whole day and the park is like a colorful sea of white student caps,
overalls in all possible colours and balloons. In the park you can find babies, kids, students, working people and pensioners, so almost everybody.
The same atmosphere, but in a smaller scale can be found in Kaisaniemi park,where the Swedish speaking students have met traditionally for the past 100 years or so.

***In the town people will be just walking around and eating their traditional Vappu lunch in various restaurants. Some take part in the political marches. The Linnanmäki amusement park young and old better alike open the fun season. The day ends in the late afternoon, when all the food is eaten and people go tired but happy to their homes. The summer can now come!

Vappu节的重要装备：

我简单说一下：白色高中毕业帽子，学校的连身校服，气球，当然还有——酒！

Important equipment for Vappu

***Student cap. You are allowed to wear a white student cap only if you have passed the matriculation examination in the high school. Nowadays people wear their student caps only between 18.00 o’clock on 30.4. and the end of 1.5. as well as their graduation day and some other important days and occasions. The cap has for some people a symbolic meaning. E.g. the polytechnic students decorate their cap with a pompom, which can be obtained only after many tasks. Inside the cap you can see different colours representing student nations. In the old days students wore their caps during the whole summer.

***Overalls. Students of different subjects at a university or polytechnic have an overall with different coulur and texts. In the back of the overallyou can always see, what the person studies. Otherwise the overall is decorated with badges and other stuff. People also change parts of overallswith other students, and some student organisations have very complex ruleson this matter.

***Balloons are sold in every street corner in the center, as well as all sorts of carnival accessories from a Vappufan and a funny nose to serpentine.

***Typical Vappu food would be sima (mead) with tippaleipä (sort of biscuit)or munkki (doughnut). People also enjoy ayonnaise salads with nakki (frankfurter).

听说过Vappu节的都知道，就是芬兰庆祝夏日来临的一个狂欢节。这个节日的一个重要仪式，就是给Hakaniemi market上的雕像Havis Amandan(昵称Manta)戴上一顶芬兰传统的白色高中毕业帽子（ylioppilaslaki）。

值得一提的是，今年这个美丽的少女雕像Manta到达了一百岁生日！所以今年给她戴上的，将不是平常的白帽子，而是一顶式样仿造19世纪的时尚的新帽子。（Havis Amandan tämän vuoden päähine on muodikkaasti 1890-luvun mallia.）

大家都知道芬兰人口稀少，平时街上没几个人。可是一到了Vappu节，人们全都涌出来享受阳光与狂欢了。Vappu节是每年能在芬兰看到人山人海情景的珍贵机会。

戴帽仪式每年下午6点准时举行，我和蜜蜂同学大概5点半到达广场，已经挤得水泄不通。我们也挤进人群，等待仪式开始。Shelley也到了，打电话给我，不过人太多，移步都难，根本不可能找到对方，所以我们约定一会儿再碰面。

人群中拍的，四周挨挨挤挤全是人。

大学生们是通过起重机的帮助来给雕像戴帽的。

人们都准备好了帽子，在雕像戴上帽子之后，所有的人也都会把自己的白帽子戴上，成为一片白帽子的海洋。

我前面有一个企鹅气球，呵呵

在等待6点整来临之前，有音乐在演奏，也有一个女声讲了一段话，她说雕像今年一百岁了！天空中有蓝色气球飘过。阳光明媚但是一点不烤人。

到时间了！给雕像戴了帽子之后，学生们也都戴上了白帽子。现场的男女老少也都戴上了白帽子。注意不是学生才能戴，基本上只要高中毕业过的人都能戴，所以很多老人也戴着他们已经有点泛黄的白帽子。

戴帽结束，挥手再见。

仪式结束后，我们向白教堂转移，人多到什么地步，摩肩接踵，非常缓慢地移动，直到20分钟后才可以走快些了。来到白教堂前面，只见台阶上黑压压坐满了人！这可是难得一见的场景。戴帽仪式结束后，人们来这里和朋友们聊天，晒太阳。蜜蜂同学每年都来参加Vappu戴帽仪式，因为他说，每年在这里都能见到一些不常见的朋友，而且有的朋友，他就只是在每年Vappu才借此碰一次面。

在这里人流终于稀疏一点了，我也才找到了Shelley和她家虾米（其实是她找到我）。我们聊了一会儿天，图方便都是用中文，虾米就在一旁站着。但是我也忘了跟他说声sorry，汗。现场多数都是学生，他们都穿着学校的连身校服。芬兰的大学和polytechnic都有这样的连身校服，颜色各异。我也有一件，但是懒得穿了，因为我们不是从学校跟其他学生一起出发的。（polytechnic：职业高等学校，比university稍低一级，大概相当于大专吧。）下图中可以看到两女孩的红色连身校服。

现场有很多服装缤纷的人，的确是狂欢节啊，不过我好多没拍，因为一般我只敢拍人家背影，偷拍技术太差了。

Shelley走后我回去拍雕像的正面照，因为戴帽仪式时候人太多，我们站的位置在雕像后面，根本不可能挤到前面去拍。我回到广场，看到人还是很多。而且我在地上看见很多空酒瓶。还有的人在唱歌。

当时人们正在给雕像洗澡。

我拍到了雕像正面照，当时是背光，拍出来雕像是黑色的（参见上一张），调过颜色后终于能看见“仿造19世纪的时尚的新帽子”的样子了，挺漂亮的。去年戴的帽子还是那个高中毕业白帽子。

戴帽仪式时候就在演奏的乐队也还没走。

最后这一张是从白教堂上面往下拍，只有Vappu这一天才能看到这么多芬兰人！最后我和蜜蜂同学就回家了，其他的年轻人肯定还有很多活动，蜜蜂同学晚上也有一个party要参加，但是我懒得去了。去了也就是喝酒桑拿而已，而且他们桑拿都是男女混合的，我去了也只能喝酒聊天，是不会去桑拿的。

最后送一个Vappu的笑话(其实是歌词)，除了喝酒，Vappu还有一个传统是唱歌：

Hurrin kanssa juhliessa aina vaivaa tää. Laulut loppuu, ääni pettää, mieltä kismittää. Nyt on mulla oiva keino, jolla torjun tuon: (Työn me jaamme), hurri laulaa, minä (senkuin) juon!

翻译： 和瑞典人一起狂欢总有这个问题， 歌唱完了，嗓子哑了，感觉真不爽。现在我有一个好的解决办法，就是这样，我们分工合作，瑞典人唱歌，我负责喝酒！
